HOW TO PRACTICE SELF-CARE AND FEEL HAPPIER

Self-Care is simply about taking the time to do things that make you happy. This can be as simple as making a cup of tea in the morning and meditating or exercising before you go to work. In this day and age we are expected to be grinding and always hustling and never really slowing down. If we aren’t doing these things then all of a sudden we aren’t succeeding.

The truth is, in order to succeed we need to slow things down once in a while and take the time to do things we love and make us happy.

5 Ways to Practice Self Care:

     1. Exercise

Taking the time to exercise and get your blood flowing will always make you feel better. Taking the time to hit the gym, go for a walk or even a run is always a good idea and you will feel happier once you have done it. Exercise releases endorphin’s which is the happy hormone. This will lift your mood and you will be ready to take on the new day.

       2. Unplug

Sometimes we just need to unplug and indulge in the silence that comes with it. Now I know that in 2017 we are attached to our cellphones like they are apart of our bodies but we need time to switch off and take in everything else around us. Switch off your phone and go sit in the sun for 30 minutes and enjoy the silence and your thoughts. Being 100% present without the constant need to check social media is the ultimate form of self-care. Take the time to enjoy your thoughts, yourself and enjoy your surroundings.

        3. Eat to nourish yourself

What we put into our body determines how we feel and function for the rest of the day. If we feed our bodies with the correct nutrients, its going to make getting through the day easier. No one wants to feel sluggish and tired during the day.

         4. Drink enough water

It is so important to hydrate ourselves. Drinking at least 2 – 3 liter’s of water is essential for healthy skin, organs and just feeling good. Water flushes your system and gets rid of toxins that could be making you feel sluggish. Try and stay away from the fizzy and sugary drinks and drink more water. Your body will thank you for it.

         5. Get some rest

Getting enough sleep at night is an absolute must. If you do not get enough sleep you will feel sluggish, tired and miserable the next day. When we sleep, our bodies repair and rejuvenate itself. Make sure your going to bed at a decent time and giving your body enough time to rest.

Self-Care is so important and our lives are often so busy that we feel we don’t really have time for it. Take time to figure out what works for you and try to implement that into your daily routine. Practicing self-care doesn’t need to take up most of your day but making sure you are doing something for yourself is so important for your mental and physical health. You deserve it!
